Summerhill Garden
Family garden
The challenge
The family client like has two young children who both really want to enjoy playing in a garden which was cramped by awkward level changes. The parents want to live more outside and entertain, but were frustrated for the same reasons. Not great plants people they nevertheless wanted a garden of striking, lush, Mediterranean character. With one member of the family having a significant mobility challenge, it was essential that the contours of the site were made to serve the drama of the design but to disappear in terms of the ability of the family to access all areas easily.
What we did
The outline design philosophy was quickly approved and we worked with the client to finalise the masterplan. We organised the contracting team and assisted the client in managing the implementation process; from groundwork to final planting.
The result
The garden is nearing completion in the spring of 2009. It is already transforming the way the clients view their life in their garden and opening up new possibilities for accessing garden fun.
