Silverstream Sustainable Tourism Project
Environmental assessment and landscape design (with Parkes Lees Architects)
The challenge
The site for this project is the upper reaches of Cornwall’s Camel Valley a protected wooded landscape of great quality. The water meadow and woodland site currently contains a number of dilapidated chalets. The proposal was to develop a set of high quality cabin accommodation to act as the base for ‘green tourism’ holidays in the area.
What we did
Westley Design was commissioned to work with the project architect & hydrological consultants to produce a low landscape impact development plan, design and access strategy and landscape masterplan. Westley Design supported these proposals with a full visual impact analysis and strategy for impact mitigation, including planting design, woodland & water meadow management.
The result
The planning application was successful and Westley Design are now working on developing landscape project proposals for implementation.
